The Ghana National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons has issued a stern advisory against the display and misuse of firearms during the upcoming Homowo festival. The commission has urged celebrants to prioritize safety and legality, emphasizing that the use of firearms poses grave risks to human life.


Safety Concerns :

The commission's advisory highlights the dangers of firearm misuse during cultural events, including accidental shootings, injuries, and fatalities. Ghana has seen a significant increase in gun violence, with a 253% rise in gun-related incidents in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.


Community Involvement :

The commission has urged community leaders, traditional authorities, and youth groups to support the campaign for a peaceful and secure festival. The Accra Regional Police Command has also issued a firm warning against the use of live ammunition at the Homowo festival celebration, emphasizing that any individual found engaging in such acts will be arrested and prosecuted.

 This is the review of the week's ( week 11 ) introduction to new media class . The class was an hour online class as was announced in the previous week . The lecturer , Miss Belinda introduced the topic for the day , that is , " Impact of new media on old media " . She thoroughly explained the topic and carried on with the week's slide to each and everyone's understanding .  Class was amazing and the lecturer teaches with less complicated English which enables each and everyone to comprehend whatever is being taught during class section .  Miss Belinda is very amazing and competent and I wish we have her to teach us again in our upcoming semesters .
